We’ve got a lovely new
We've got a lovely new high-speed connection in the office, so every site I go to is suddenly there at the speed of light. It's almost disconcerting.
Anyway, here comes the weekend, and it's starting with a trip to see Heartbreakers this evening, which will hopefully be a laugh - the reviews suggest that it will be, anyway. I'll do a review either tonight or in the morning.

Vegetarians and those of a non-foodie disposition might want to look away now.
I just got back from a delayed celebration of Alison's birthday. I took her for dinner at 1837, the restaurant of Brown's Hotel.
We had one of the Chef, Andrew Turner's 'Grazing' menus, which offers seven course with a selection of samplings of items from the A La Carte.
Skipping some of the detail, because I can't remember all the little flourishes, dinner consisted of:
Gazpacho with aubergine puree and red mullet on the side
Salad of asparagus and lobster
Seared foie gras with a coulis of green apple
Roast scallop with smoked garlic sauce
Fillet of beef with a rich red wine sauce
Selection of cheeses
Deep-fried chocolate with essence of mango.
And the chocolates that came with tea included fresh strawberries that had been dipped in both milk and white chocolate.
It was all quite wonderful, and the wine list is huge (300 wines by the glass), and one of the place's mottos (which is going straight into the random quotation generator on the left) is "Wine is the visible proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy".
I am *definitely* going back there.....
Been bowling for the first
Been bowling for the first time in over a month with a small but select group - must do more of this sport of kings (or when I'm playing, queens).

For reasons I can’t adequately
For reasons I can't adequately explain, I found myself washed over by a wave of nostalgia last night - I suddenly started thinking about the places I've lived since I moved to London (and there've been a few), and the people I've lived with. This may have something to do with a passing comment from someone yesterday about how long they've lived here, which made me realise that next month, I'll have been a Londoner for 12 years, which, as it coincides with the month of my 36th birthday, means I'll have lived here exactly a third of my life. This seems a massively significant proportion of the time I've been around. I've been trying to remember what I was like then - and I really can't. All I can remember is moving my entire life into one room in Wandsworth, and thinking it was all a great adventure. Which it unquestionably has been, one way and another.
But I can't remember a single thing that was important to me, or anything I did except work in those first few months, or who visited me, or who I slept with......

Sleeplessness seems to be coming
Sleeplessness seems to be coming and going now - over the weekend, I was sleeping okay - last night, I had two blocks of about two hours' each, so this morning, lethargy (plus a terrible tired headache) rules.

My reflections on last weekend
My reflections on last weekend in Amsterdam are done, by the way. I did them the other day, but thought I might as well treat them to the new look, so here they are.
Well, here we are -
Well, here we are - new home, new look, and an all-new way of working. I was tempted to do a Giant-Sized X-Men #1, and plaster an "All-New! All-Different!" headline over the logo...... Still am tempted, actually.....
It's got includes, it's got a little DHTML scroller going on over on the left which I don't think it makes sense to put into every section of the navigation, and it's got a rather cleaner look. And the beauty of it all being done in stylesheets is that apart from obvious stuff like new images, every single line of the actual content is utterly identical to how it was before.
Let me know what you think - ChrisR, to whom I must have mentioned the new URL, has already spotted it, eagle-eyed chap that he is.
