More A Way Of Life… Look, this is just between you and me

I’ve promised myself a weekend

I've promised myself a weekend of total solitude, to recover from a rather hectic week and a bit - I'm going to work on the new version of the site, using includes, and living under a new URL, and I'm going to read, and listen to music, and generally unwind.

Having a weekend around the flat is also appropriate, because today is the first anniversary of my buying it and moving in. It doesn't seem like as long, but it most assuredly is....

I didn’t sleep last night

I didn't sleep last night as it transpires. Not necessarily because I couldn't - that, alas, will never be known - but because I had an unexpected visitor at 2.30am (you know who you are.....)

I heard John Major’s Radio

I heard John Major's Radio 4 "I support Ken Clarke" interview yesterday morning. I was, frankly, astonished. I would never have credited him with enough guts to tear into the Constervative Party's very own Madwoman In The Attic the way he did. Apparently he inherited a country in a right old state; inflation, recession, unemployment all running rampant, and Mad Old Bat Thatcher undermining his every move by encouraging people like Iain Duncan-Smith (funnily enough) to vote against the government at every verse end. Quite remarkable stuff, actually.

[Resume normal service] Back from

[Resume normal service]

Back from the wilds of The Netherlands, and sleeping in my own bed tonight for the first time in a week ñ but will it be ësleepí that I get? An update on that one in the morning.

In the meantime, Iíve done a page of notes about the trip that Iíll link in the morning when Iíve had a chance to scan a couple of photos to go with it.

A link Iíve been meaning to share for a while, but which Iíve been forgetting is The Commercial Closet, a site based on an ongoing study/analysis of the depiction of lesbians, gay men and transgendered people in advertising. I keep being reminded about it when I see that Bristol and West ad on the tube with the two disturbingly perfect-looking young men announcing that they ëpractice safe savingí.

My word, this is my

My word, this is my first time in an EasyEverything, and if they're all like this, I can see how they've got so big. Talk about easy. Anyway - we're here, my mother seems to be loving it, and life is good. Plus I've been drinking *beer* a lot today, which is unusal, and so I'm probably feeling slightly happier than is standard.

That's it - I'll Blog the whole trip when I get home, but in the meantime, I may stop by this extremely convenient spot just because I can (and because I've got a load of credit to use up.....)

Right, I’m shortly departing for

Right, I'm shortly departing for a long weekend in Amsterdam to mark my mother's [DELETED TO PROTECT THE INNOCENT]th birthday. I'm hoping to Blog at least once while I'm there, but in case not, I'll do a full catch-up on Tuesday evening. Please note that mails sent in the next few days will not get immediate replies.

Outta here.

Which rock diva were you

Which rock diva were you in a previous life?

I was Adalita Srsen, apparently. And if anyone can tell me WTF she is/was, I'd be very grateful. A Google search on the name just comes up with a nude celeb site she's on, so that's not much help.

On my electricity bill, for

On my electricity bill, for which dear old London Electricity has been taking an inordinate amount of money every month, I find the statement: "We have calculated that the amount you presently pay in monthly instalments will not balance your account at the annual review." Which makes it sound like I haven't been paying *enough*, rather than the reality of the case, which is that they've got nearly £200 of my money over and above the charges on the bill! Which, I might add, I'm having back.......

Cheeky buggers.

During such sleep as I’ve

During such sleep as I've been getting lately, I've been having the weirdest and most graphic dreams I can remember for a long time. I suppose it's because the body's not getting much REM sleep that it's having to pack all of its unconscious oddities into more intense activity.
