You’d Better Sit Down For This….
I'm going out shortly.
To play tennis.
Yes, I know - I didn't prepare you properly for the shock, did I? I'm sorry - I should have laid the groundwork better, given you more chance to build up to it, not just blurted out something so shocking without having provided a link to some kind of trauma support group.
Anyway - I'm heading off to lunch at Alison's after, and then on for a much-delayed marathon viewing of the last five episodes of The West Wing Season Three and the first of Season Four. So I probably won't be back.
My silence for the rest of the day is not because I'm in A&E.
Well, it might be of course, but it won't automatically be.
Catch you tomorrow.

In heat? Oh my!
July 28th, 2003 - 09:50
so … how did it go?
July 28th, 2003 - 10:09
It went well – there was doubles for over an hour, then a singles match between Alison and I that took a bit more exertion, but at the end of it I was pleasantly surprised by how not winded I was.
We’re going to have a regular session now.

always good to keep be regular…
July 28th, 2003 - 14:03
always good to be able to type
July 28th, 2003 - 18:16
You know you really ought not to break shocking news like that. Someone could have a bad reaction.
July 29th, 2003 - 09:16
I want to play tennis…
July 29th, 2003 - 09:23
You should. If I can, and not keel over, *anyone* can.
July 29th, 2003 - 11:01
I think an ability to hit the ball consistently might help, which is me out of the running…
July 29th, 2003 - 11:07
I refer my honourable friend to the answer I gave earlier.
If *I* can….
July 29th, 2003 - 11:13
never got on with tennis, badminton and squash on the other hand….
July 29th, 2003 - 15:30
Puts me out of the running too. I find it one of the most frustrating games known to man, seconded only by golf

O.M.G. !!! Bl***y TENNIS.
Well Jon.
Had thought of sending this via private email.
but thought, well..If J is willing to come out as a crap athlete..why not me too.!
Basically it went like this.
Jude and I in the Pub last night, doing our regular several pints followed up by visit to Kebab house…
Jude’s mobile rings, and its Philippa, follows 20mins or so of P filling Jude in on the whole Tennis Malarkey.
Thing, is Tennis really is Jude’s big thing.
(very competitive, watch that red mist descend).
So..
Looks like this Sunday a.m. we’ll be joining you for the shenanigans.
And Me..I’m really crap.
Don’t often play with Jude, have to warn you, she has a mean and powerful serve…she’s currently puzzling over why we have only one racket when we used to have three..
And I’m puzzling over what’s a person to wear.!! have to say I’m more interested in this as a social occasion…and have been doing that weird thing for years when waist size seems to equate precisely to age..fine when I was 30 odd..but now..! so do have a wardrobe full of several pairs of nice shorts..none of which fit.!! was planning to do greek hol. shop Sunday p.m. leaving me shortless for Tennis..
Ah well..we’ll see…
So maybe see you Sunday a.m.
unless of course it rains.
