Been meaning to mention this all week - last Saturday night while walking to the cinema for Hot Fuzz, a group of youths went past us in a taxi, and one, obviously the sharpest of the group, leaned out of the window and shouted at me “You’ve got no hair!”
Obviously I was devastated by this […]

Much Ado Indeed

You may recall that after seeing the RSC Much Ado About Nothing last month I had a little rave about Tamsin Greig as Beatrice.
I appear to be in good company.

Hot And Fuzzy

(Don’t be filthy.)
Went to see Hot Fuzz last night and had a great time - one of the first films I’ve seen in a long time I’d give five stars to.  Absolutely spot-on for what it was trying to be, incredibly funny, and possibly the most mainstream male/male love story in cinema history :-)

My Friend TomTom

So I haven’t ever extolled the virtues of satellite navigation for cars before, but the time has come.
My first experience of this kind of thing was in around 2000 when I and a colleague had been told the wrong airport to fly into for a clinet meeting in the US and decided to take up […]

Toddler Goading
Footage of four women goading toddlers to fight has “stunned” police and social services in Devon.
The seven-minute footage, filmed at a house by one woman, was shown in a case at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court.
In the clip, a boy wearing a nappy was called a “wimp” for not hitting a girl back after she struck […]

Just Like Any Other Day

We don’t do Valentine’s Day in our house.
We both talk a lot about it being horrible and commercial and shallow, all of which is true, but I think a brief exchange last night illustrates the actual root of our issue with the day:
Him: You really don’t mind not doing anything tomorrow do you?
Me: […]

Babbling On

February 12, 2007 | 2 Comments

Oh yes, and following on from the BAFTAs: How galling must it be to have your film nominated as one of the candidates for Best Film, to have it presented as a magnum opus having taken a year to film on three continents, and be widely touted as one of the most intelligent and […]

And The BAFTA Goes To…

February 11, 2007 | Comments Off

I hate the whole “don’t use the phrase ‘the winner is…’” malarkey that infected the Oscars a few years ago and is very much in evidence at the BAFTAs now. The minute the events are over the people who walked off with them immediately get the phrase “Oscar-winner” or “BAFTA winner” attached to their […]

Ow Ow Ow!

I went go-karting for the first time last night.  It was a lot of fun, but sad to say, I’ve now got twinges in various parts of my body that I wasn’t expecting.  I’ve wrenched something in my back in particular that is *no* fun.
