Goodbye Ned
So Ned Sherrin died yesterday, of the throat cancer which took him away from Loose Ends at the end of last year. Such a loss.
I only met him once, when I sat across the aisle from him on a plane, and we really only exchanged the kind of pleasantries people do in that circumstance, but in a couple of his comments about the quality of service and the behaviour of the crew, the razor sharp wit for which he was so reknowned was much in evidence.
October Already
Doesn't time fly?
I had an unexpected celeb-spotting fest at the end of last week, with a British actress and two American actors (one a major, MAJOR Hollywood figure) all passing through my orbit (or I through theirs) in the space of about six hours on Friday. You get that from time to time living in London.
Anyway, yes - October. We seem to be properly autumnal now - the weather is bad more than it's good, and there's an unmistakeable sense of the nights drawing in. We have the first wedding anniversary looming, and a weekend away to mark it. Along with both brother and nephew birthdays, the month is suddenly full of 'events'.
And of course it may even have an election in it. It's been a long time since we had anything approaching a snap election - it could be very interesting to watch indeed.
